Katla Thornton, great Granddaughter of Halia Thornton, is the mayor of Phandalin and an agent of Zhentarim that reside in Tresandor Manor. Ambitious and calculating, Katla exerts her influence over the town via her Zhentarim thugs. Our heroes walked into a trap she set using the Shortankard brothers and were subsequently blackmailed into acquiring the shards of the broken Forge of Spells for her. To the dismay of Katla, the group chose to work with a cloaked figure that claimed to be the legendary Sildar Hallwinter. She often sends Zhentarim agents to try and retrieve the shards from the adventurers.
